Telstra Option

Postby MICKYMIKE101 » Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:03 pm

Hey all, i have a VT wagon and through some research have found out that i have a Telstra headlight option which causes the headlights to be on all the time. only way to get em off is to switch to parkers. i have removed the dash surround and found a small black box behind then headlight switch, is this the "option" holden have put in? seems multiple wires are going in to it, not sure which 1's to cut...... any help with this issue mucho appreciated :smt023

yes mate it was a fleet option by holden, basically some fleet companies like telsra, country energy, and state rail liked their lights on with the ign on, there was a box and harness fitted to the back of the headlight switch, easy enough to disconnect, just disconnect the connector of the "black box" and plug it direclty into the headlight switch.
hope this helps :smt023

reason behind them fitting this option is cause cars are easier seen on the road with lights on as a saftey item, it is why u see ppl driving on hwys with their headlights on during the day so cars coming towards them see them sooner

Its not just holdens, ford do it too. Though on fords i had a telstra car myself and went through 3 sets of headlights with factory globes, they melted!

About the only time it was a pain was when i decided to go to the drive-in...................
