Stock alternator, if you have a big enough battery bank, upgrading your alternator is pointless..
I could demo at shows for hours and hours... car off.... and my voltage would still float at 12.8+

battery power > alternators..

What kind of system are you thinking ?

the alternator charges them as you drive, just like any other battery... sure it takes a bit longer...

youl realise once you have your 4 15's and 10,000 rms.... its incredibly hard to listen to it full tilt for more then a few minutes....

you will likly listen to it full tilt for no more then 30 seconds at a time.... and because a system with so much cone area is so efficent.. youl only need 500-1000 watts for it to be loud for normal listening...

My van could do over 150s with under 1000 watts... if the port tuning was higher like your average system ~35 hz it would have done 150's off 500rms...

for 10,000rms you will want at least 400 AH of batterys,

thanks for the info, the subs im getting can do 150's well under powerd, but i dont belive in under powering something, if it has the power there, ima use all of it. my 2 12's i have now are tuned to 47hz and they put out 143db on 2000rms

2000rms 143's :(
i think your tune is a little high, the resonant frequency of a VT is around 47, so try tuning to around 42 - 43hz
i got 143's out of 900rms in a impreza sedan with a single 12.

Im keen to see your build, will you be making a log of it on here ?

10,000wrms? wtf? are you looking to do it just to have the numbers or is there a point as to why you want so much power... i'm only running a single type r and if you get it running right, you can't listen to it for that long cos your head starts hurting... and that's only 500wrms (amp's 1000wrms monoblock) but still...

And with the alternator, if you have that much power running from the batteries, yeah it'll take longer to charge, but then you run the risk of overheating and killing the alternator, and if you don't upgrade the cabling to cope with the extra juice that it needs to put out, you could potentially start a fire... i've got some old pics somewhere of my old alternator cable, since i used to have it up at cruise meets and when it was charging on the road, it only had about 1/10th of the original cable left in the connector, so that scared the crap out of me with how hot it got and how close i was to having a fire... I've already gone through 2 alternators (second hand ones) so next one will be a brand newie with the extra capacity...

One thing you have to remember, the more power your running, the more work you have to do to get it working properly and the cabling/extra work you have to do to make sure it's safe and will last longer than 2-3 sound offs...

Maybe he wants to be loud :)
i was going to have 32kw :) then the distributor and company had a tiff and i never got my second amp :(....

Honestly, if you have a suffice battery bank, itl be fine. you seriously wont use over 2-3000 watts much anyways.
But as DBVSWagon said, cabling is important.

what he said ^^^ 10KW is no joke, your gonna need a serious power system to handle that sort of power daily, multiple batteries, lots of 0ga power wire runs, both positive and negative (the body cant handle that sort of power for the earths) as well as alts if you plan on having it going for ages while your driving (i dont think you will though :P)

in regards to hy i want so much power, i am goin for spl numbers and also i like my music loud. i sit in my car at the moment which is running 2000rms on 2 12's which puts out over 140db, and i dont think its loud enough. its just the way i am. im pritty sure my car is heading down the track of a show car, so i want it to be one that stands out with the loud ass system in it. i know all about the problems as such on keeping a system this size running, the size cales i would need etc etc. im not just gunna stick it all in and think its gunna run of a 8ga sony xpload amp intall kit. as cloar said i wouldnt be using over 3000rms very often unless for demos.
